    Guide to Pranayama Breathing Exercises

    1. Alternate Nostril Breathing

    Assume an upright seated position. Bend your index and middle fingers of your right hand toward your palm. Close your eyes. Use your thumb to close your right nostril and inhale long and deeply through your left. Hold the breath briefly, release your thumb on the right and exhale there. Now inhale through the right again, closing the left, and so on. Continue this alternating breath approximately 10 times. After that, take a few breaths calmly through both nostrils before opening your eyes again.

    2. Calming Pranayama

    Always inhale only through the left nostril, then close the left nostril and exhale through the right.

    3. Energizing Pranayama

    Always inhale only through the right nostril, then close the right nostril and exhale through the left.
