Goldene Milch – Ayurvedische Kraft im Glas

Golden Milk – Ayurvedic Power in a Glass

Golden Milk, also known as "Haldi Doodh," is a true classic in Ayurvedic nutrition – ideal for starting your day or as a calming evening ritual. It nourishes the tissues (Dhatus), promotes digestive fire (Agni), and creates harmony between body and mind. The spices it contains, such as turmeric, ginger, and saffron, are considered Rasayanas – rejuvenating and strengthening remedies.

Ingredients for Base Paste (makes approximately 7 servings)

    Spices for the paste:

1 tbsp freshly grated or ground turmeric
½ tsp ground ginger or 2 cm fresh ginger
    2 pinches freshly grated nutmeg
½ tsp cardamom (ground or freshly crushed)
    ½ tsp black pepper
    ½ tsp Ceylon cinnamon
    3 threads saffron
    1 tsp coconut oil
    120 ml still water

Ingredients for 1 Glass of Golden Milk

    Per serving:

1 heaping tsp of the spice paste
    2 tbsp warm water
200 ml (plant-based) milk of your choice (e.g., oat, almond, cow's milk)
as needed some coconut blossom sugar or honey (not for children under 1 year)

    Preparation

Make the base paste: Stir all paste ingredients together in water using a whisk and slowly heat in a small pot. Gently simmer while stirring until a smooth paste forms.
Store the paste: Transfer to a clean jar with a screw-top lid. Keeps in the refrigerator for about 7 days.
Prepare the Golden Milk: Dissolve the spice paste in warm water, add the milk, and heat over medium heat for about 5 minutes while stirring. Do not boil!
Serve: Sweeten if desired and enjoy warm. Tip: The paste can also be used to enhance porridge, smoothies, or curries.

    Ayurveda Tips:

Best time of day: Ideal in the evening to calm the nervous system or in the morning as a gentle energy booster.

Constitution: Suitable for all Doshas. Particularly beneficial for Vata and Kapha types due to its warming, grounding properties. Pitta types should avoid pepper and nutmeg if experiencing heat sensations.

Application tip: The paste can also be used to enhance porridge, smoothies, or curries.
