Unlike bitter fennel, sweet fennel is used as a spice. With its high content of essential oils, it is also used for cough drops or fennel tea.
Fennel seeds are also used for baking. The slightly sweet note of the seeds pairs perfectly with freshly baked bread.
Application
For aromatic tea, not just for babies and nursing mothers. Creates a wonderful "belly feeling" after eating.
Lightly crush 1 tsp of seeds in a mortar and pour over with 1/2 l of boiling water. Let steep covered for 5 minutes.
As an ingredient for homemade Mukhwas - chewing spice - in bread or Indian cuisine such as Biryani.
