    Energy Balls with Nettle Seeds

    These nourishing, sattvic energy balls combine the power of dates, nuts, and nettle seeds into a small yet potent snack. Ideal for exhaustion, recovery, or as a powerful pick-me-up between meals.

    Ingredients (makes about 20 balls)

    Base:

    200 g soft dates (pitted)
    80 g almonds (roasted or natural)
    60 g cashews
    3 tbsp almond butter
    2 tbsp rolled oats (finely ground)

    Spices & Superfoods:

    2 tbsp nettle seeds
    1 tsp Ceylon cinnamon
    ½ tsp cardamom (ground)
    1 pinch vanilla
    1 tsp ghee (optional for Vata types)

    For Coating (optional):

    1 tbsp coconut flakes
    1 tbsp ground almonds
    ½ tsp matcha or cocoa powder

    Instructions (about 20 minutes + chilling time)

    Blend the base: Coarsely chop dates and place in a blender with nuts, almond butter, ghee, oats, and spices.
    Make the mixture: Process everything into a homogeneous, slightly sticky paste.
    Fold in nettle seeds: Gently fold in the nettle seeds (don't blend them – this preserves their nutritional integrity).
    Shape into balls: Using lightly damp hands, form small balls.
    Coat (optional): If desired, roll in coconut flakes, matcha, or cocoa powder.
    Chill: Refrigerate until firm (at least 30 minutes). Storage: Keep in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

    Ayurveda Tips:

    Best time to enjoy: Ideal as a snack in the late morning or afternoon when energy dips or cravings strike.

    Constitution: Especially beneficial for Vata – warm, nourishing, best made with ghee. Pitta types can reduce cinnamon or add rose water. Kapha types substitute almond butter for sunflower seed butter and omit ghee.

    Spice tip: Cardamom cools and harmonizes; nettle seeds strengthen kidneys and Prana energy.
