Shatavari, also known as wild asparagus - the botanical name is Asparagus racemosus - is a twining, perennial plant that can grow up to 7 metres tall. Its fragrant white flowers develop into red berries. The wild asparagus has distinctive rhizomes and leaves that thicken like spines in the lower section. The root and fresh juice from which a churna is made are used in Ayurvedic nutrition. Churna simply means "powder" in Sanskrit and is a mixture of ground herbs and/or minerals that are used in Ayurvedic medicine.

Shatavari is also available in other forms - for example in the Shatavari capsules from Nimi, as a sweetened hot drink Shatavari hot Instant Infusion or as an Ayurvedic massage oil Shatavari Gritham.

Recommended dosage

Take 1 gram (equivalent to approx. 1/3 teaspoon) three times a day with hot water between meals. The daily intake contains approx. 2.5 - 3 g of herbal powder. The recommended daily intake must not be exceeded.

Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a balanced and varied diet. Store out of the reach of small children.
