Tejpat, also known as Indian Bay Leaf, has an intense aroma that is highly valued in Indian and Asian cuisine.
Details
In Europe, Indian bay leaf is relatively unknown as a spice and difficult to obtain, but in the countries of the southern Himalayas, the tree, which can grow up to 20 meters tall, is found wild at altitudes up to 2400m.
Usage
You can use Tejpat as a spice for Indian cuisine, and its spicy aroma unfolds beautifully, for example, when used for incense.
In Ayurvedic medicine, it is often found under the Hindi name Teipat. Here, Teipat is typically part of a stimulating, invigorating herbal blend, such as in Tiger Balm or similar products.
