Every cell in the body needed for energy production in addition to glucose and oxygen. The iron-containing hemoglobin in the red blood cells takes up oxygen in the lungs and transported with the blood circulation to the cells. In the growing age of iron is required for the structure of the blood pigment hemoglobin for oxygen transport.
