It's quite possible that the pleasant summer months are tempting me to write a blog article about male potency right now. The real reason, however, is patients who report erectile problems in my practice and seek advice and tips for natural potency remedies. The following blog article is based both on experiences from my own practice and on conversations with our known Vaidyas as well as the study of the Compendium of MA Remedies from Maharishi Ayurveda. Here you will find information about possible causes of erectile dysfunction in men, tips for remedying it, and an overview of the most common Ayurvedic and natural potency remedies.
The Most Important at a Glance
- Erectile dysfunction can occur occasionally or permanently and is often caused by physical or psychological factors.
- Ayurveda sees erectile dysfunction as Vata disturbances caused by blockages and tissue weakness.
- A healthy lifestyle and diet can help improve the condition.
- Herbal remedies such as Ashwagandha and Shatavari support the body.
What is Erectile Dysfunction in Men and When Do We Speak of Erectile Dysfunction?
First: As a minimal definition for male erection, I describe the sufficient rigidity (erection) of the male member necessary for satisfactory sexual intercourse. If the required erection is not achieved, or not maintained long enough, despite existing libido, i.e., sexual desire, one speaks of erectile dysfunction.
Erectile dysfunction can occur occasionally, over a limited period, or permanently. In the medical sense, one only speaks of erectile dysfunction if the affected person cannot achieve sufficient erection in at least 70% of attempts within 6 months.
Causes of Erectile Dysfunction
There are several reasons for a permanent impairment of male sexuality, whether erectile problems or full-blown erectile dysfunction up to impotence. The causes are often found at the physical level, after all, the swelling of the male member is a complex interplay of blood vessels, the nervous system, hormones, and muscles. However, the psychological level should not be underestimated either. The inability to engage in sexuality is still taboo, performance pressure and fear of failure often remain unspoken, tension builds up, and blockages develop.
Natural Potency Remedies Do Not Help with Psychological Blockages
Before you resort to a pill and take medication for erectile dysfunction, be sure to clarify the cause of the disorder. This also applies to herbal potency remedies such as the Ayurvedic herbal mixture MA 110. Because it makes little sense to take a stimulating remedy – whether from the pharmaceutical chemistry kitchen or from the plant world – as long as the cause is neither known nor addressed. Furthermore, there are some conditions such as high blood pressure and heart disease that preclude the libido-stimulating use of potency remedies.
Classical Medically Clarifiable Causes of Erectile Dysfunction
So, for erectile dysfunction, first talk to your doctor or naturopath. They can diagnose what the cause of your erectile dysfunction is. Causes of erectile problems can include:
- Genital malformations
- Diabetes
- Overweight
- Prostate enlargement or prostate removal
- Arteriosclerosis
- Condition after stroke, paralysis
- Alcohol abuse
- Heavy smoking
- Neuropathies
- Vitamin D and E deficiency
- Various medications such as beta-blockers
- Hormone deficiency
- Stress
- Psychological factors
What Ayurvedic Medicine Says About Erectile Dysfunction
From an Ayurvedic perspective, erectile dysfunction falls under Vata disturbances. More precisely, it is a blockage of the srotas (transport channels in the body) and a weakness of the dhatus (body tissues). Here, especially in the area of shukra dhatu, which is the so-called reproductive tissue.
In Ayurveda, the highest principle is the avoidance of the cause. The focus is on your daily behavior, your approach to stress, and your overall physical and mental state. A balanced, healthy diet and lifestyle are paramount.
What to Do About Erectile Dysfunction? What Ayurveda Recommends
As a rule, for erectile dysfunction, a cleansing cure (Pancha Karma) is advisable. This often improves classical "prosperity diseases" such as overweight, high cholesterol, arterial calcification, diabetes, which can also be a cause of erectile problems. A fasting week with dietary and lifestyle changes (exercise, movement, fresh air), relaxation exercises, and meditation can also eliminate some of the underlying causes.
Ayurvedic principles:
Cleanse – Nourish – Move
Herbal Tonics and Healthy Diet for Erectile Problems
After a cleansing cure, a Vata-reducing diet and the use of tonics are helpful. This way, balance in the body can be achieved and maintained in the long term.
The diet should be warm and regular, and preferably organic and not pre-processed. As Rasayanas, Chyavanprash, almonds, and nettle seeds are recommended. These small powerhouses contain plenty of silica and the vital vitamin E. They strengthen and nourish the entire body. For example, you can sprinkle a teaspoon of nettle seeds daily over your muesli or into your soup.
To stimulate the body's own cleansing processes, you should drink plenty of fluids. Hot water and suitable teas support this. If you know that erectile dysfunction is a result of great tension, relaxing teas can be helpful.
Do not underestimate the third principle, movement, when it comes to a healthy lifestyle. Exercise regularly. Really. It doesn't really matter whether running, fitness, or yoga – the main thing is that you feel balanced and well afterwards.
Herbal Potency Remedies and Aphrodisiacs from Ayurveda
In Vedic texts, there is often mention of the aphrodisiac effects of individual plant parts. However, it should be noted that Ayurvedic potency remedies do not act in isolation on the reproductive organs, nor should they. Instead, Ayurvedic medicine looks at the entire organism. So this is not about increasing sexual quantity in the sense of "longer, harder, more often," but rather about a healthy and balanced lifestyle that promotes healthy reproductive capacity and desire.
According to this principle, Ayurvedic medicine has some herbs that are specifically used for erectile dysfunction and blockage of shukra dhatu. An important remedy is Ashwagandha, which roughly translates to "the power of the horse." The ground prickly pear Gokshura provides cleansing in the urogenital tract. Indian asparagus Shatavari is also referred to as an Ayurvedic aphrodisiac. It strengthens and has a balancing effect on the Shukra Dhatu.
To Strengthen Shukra Dhatu: The Ayurvedic Herbal Mixture MA 110
From Maharishi Ayurveda, there is an Ayurvedic herbal mixture called MA 110, which was specifically developed to strengthen the Shukra Dhatu. It contains the winter cherry Ashwagandha, the morning glory Ipomoea digitata, Indian asparagus Shatavari, and licorice or Yastimadu.
Our Miraherba House Tea No. 110 – A Herbal Potency Remedy
Based on the herbal mixture from Maharishi, we have also given our Miraherba house tea mixture, which we compiled to strengthen the shukra dhatu, the number 110. The result is a delicious, strong and spicy tea that can also simply be enjoyed as a beverage.
The tea blend 110 contains the following ingredients:
Recipe: Ayurvedic Potency Drink
- 1 tsp Gokshura
- 1 tsp sesame seeds
- ½ liter goat's milk
- 1 tsp honey
Stir all ingredients into the milk and bring to a boil. To the stimulating, invigorating drink, you can add cardamom, cinnamon, nutmeg, Trikatu, and saffron as desired.
Conclusion
Despite all natural potency remedies, relaxation remains an important factor for "success." Nothing works under pressure or duress. Perhaps you could read the beautiful Indian Kamasutra together with your partner, the verses of desire or the teachings on Tantra. There you approach the topic of sexuality on a completely different level, and this change alone can have an effect. Even though problems with sexuality are still taboo in society, be assured that you are not alone.
